Winter 2012

A mild start to the winter of 2012! A relief from our normal high gas bills this time of year! But wait, we still have more winter ahead of us, with plenty of cold and snow on the way. Keeping your home comfortable through the constantly changing weather is a challenge we are always up to! Keeping proper humidity in your home is one of the challenges. With the constant temperature change in Chicago a daily reset is almost needed! A simple indicator to use is: if you get shocks when you touch things (or other poeple) your home is to dry. If your windows mist up than the level is to high. Either extreme is not good for you or your home. To dry causes wood to crack and music instruments to be out of tune, it's also the cause of colds! To much and you risk damaging your windows and even interior walls. A general setting is about 30% for most days, extreme cold you will want to turn it down about 20%. There are modern controls that will perform this constant adjustment for you, call me for more information.
